Brett Mikels: Music
Deep Enough
(Written by Brett Mikels © 2006)
You learned as a young child, this way of dealing
With the parts of life, that you don’t like
So you created a space, deep inside
Where you can pack it all away, it’ll never see the light of day
But it’s never deep enough
No it’s never deep enough
To disappear
And the walls you first built, were only so strong
Not enough to hold, a lifetime of burying your soul
So with each year that passed, you made the walls a little stronger
So you could dig a little deeper, dig a little deeper still
But it’s never deep enough
No it’s never deep enough
To disappear
But for once in your life, you let your guard come down
You wandered outside, got your feet on the ground
You never loved so deep, you never lived so out loud
Like you did when you were with me
You got scared and shut down, you went back inside
You said life can’t be, it can’t be as easy as it seems
Well you can run and you can hide, but you can’t escape yourself
You know because you’ve tried, oh you’ve tried
It’s never deep enough
No it’s never deep enough, no
It’s never deep enough…
